This is a test for my senior project. Recording conversations at various hangouts of total stangers and doing illustrations from that.

more book stuff

Here are a couple more book illustrations I did. I was looking at the New York Times and finding some interesting headlines to go from. It was very free to just do whatever comes to mind rather than do tons of sketches, then get approval and then go and do final and then revisions. I know this doesn't happen in the "real" world, but it's a fun exercise.

illustrated notebook

I started painting in this old antique book from the early 1900's. It's a nice way to work out ideas because the book already has text and the pages are yellow from age so it's not as precious as a pretty white sheet of paper. Also, you can use the content on the page to sometimes generate ideas or even become part of the art. I am enjoying it and I will keep posting pages as I get the done.

sketch

I have been messing around with colored pencils lately. I really like the quality of them and also the ability to change colors when I need to instead of just pen or graphite. It's kind of nice. I have been wanting to paint lately, but don't have a studio or a good place to do that. I want to do a whole lot more of these colored pencil drawings and post them. This one is very unfinished. I took too long to capture everything.

Movie Poster

This is a movie I poster I did for a local movie theater. They were showing a trilogy of Eastwood movies. I am quite happy with how everything turned out. I spent a lot of time getting the design just right. Design is something I am not strong in so this was a good project to do.
